Package 1

Raising Awareness: Safeguarding Adults

This course aims to raise awareness of Safeguarding vulnerable adults.  This course is designed for practitioners and managers working directly with vulnerable adults.

 

This course can be adapted in length to suit your needs.

 

Outcomes of this Training:

• To understand what safeguarding is

• To be able to recognise vulnerabilities in adults

• To know the policies and procedures in your local authority

• To know what to do if there is a disclosure

• To be able to recognise signs and symptoms of abuse

 

The course can be provided at a cost of £500. There is a maximum group size of 20 delegates and a suitable training venue will need to be provided.

 

Elements of this course can also be delivered in a two hour workshop, at a cost of £200.

 



Package 2

Raising Awareness of Child Sexual Exploitation

This is a two hour course aimed at raising awareness of staff working in an industry that is serving the public.

 

This course is ideal for hotel, bar or club staff, security staff, taxi drivers or anyone who is working within the night time economy.

 

Outcomes of this training:

• To know what child sexual exploitation (CSE) is

• To be able to recognise the signs of CSE – specific to your                     industry

• To know what to do if you are worried

 

The course can be provided at a cost of £300.  There is a maximum group size of 20 delegates and a suitable training venue will need to be provided.

 

A longer workshop of 3 hours is also available and is aimed at practitioners from all agencies, in particular those who are working with children and young people as part of their role.  This session can be delivered to whole teams, organisations or multi agency groups.  This course is provided at a cost of £350.



Package 3

Basic Awareness of Child Protection

This is a 3 hour course aimed at practitioners who work with children of all ages.  The course aims to raise awareness of practitioners to the signs of child abuse and to know what action to take to keep them safe.

 

This is a whole day course, but elements of this day can be provided in a two hour workshop as a refresher course if staff need their child protection training updated.

 

Outcomes of this training:

• To be able to define child protection and safeguarding

• To understand what is meant by abuse

• To be able to recognise the signs and symptoms of child abuse

• To understand the current legal framework, and national                     guidance and place this within a local context

• To know how to respond to disclosures

• To understand and be able to use the correct recording and                 reporting procedures

• To know about using the referral process

 

This course can be provided at a cost of £300

 

There is a maximum group size of 20, and a suitable training venue will need to be provided.

 



Package 4


Working with Parents and CSE

This is a whole day course (9.30am - 4pm) that aims to develop practitioner skills, offers understanding of what the impact of CSE has on parents and the wider family.  It will also give an insight into what some of the difficulties can be ogf working with parents who have children that are victims of CSE and will off resources and tools that can be used.

 

Outcomes of this training:

•    To have a greater understanding of Child Sexual Exploitation

•   To have considerend the impact of Child Sexula Exploitation on           parents/carers and the wider family

•   To have considered the benefits and difficulties of working with         parents of children who are being sexually exploited or who are         risk

•   To have knowledge of research, resources and tools available for       work with parents and carers.  

 

This course can be provided at a cost of £750

 

 

There is a maximum group size of 20, and a suitable training venue will need to be provided.


Package 5

Working with CSE: Skills and Practice

This is a whole day course (9.30am - 4pm) that aims to develop practitioner skills, offers ideas to enhance practice and introduces practical ways of working with young people who are at risk of sexual exploitation.

 

Outcomes of this training:

•    To have a greater understanding of Child Sexual Exploitation

•    To have increased knowledge and skills when working directly             with children and young people at risk of sexual exploitation

•   To have considered barriers to effective practice

•    To have knowledge of a wider range of tools and resources                 available for use in direct work

•    To have an understanding of the impact on practitioners of                undertaking direct work with children and young people at risk           of sexual exploitation

 

This course can be provided at a cost of £750

 

There is a maximum group size of 20, and a suitable training venue will need to be provided.

Safe In Your Hands CSE Practitioner Guide
This is a quick guide that focuses on young people under the age of 18 years. Any young person or child can be at risk of sexual exploitation. This guide will help you know what child sexual exploitation is and will give you ways in which you can build a rapport with young people. It will give you some potential warning signs and what to do if you are worried.

Package 6

Safeguarding Children in Early Years

Sue is a specialist in the field of early years and has a bespoke course, based on the Raising Awareness of Safeguarding children training that is adapted to meet the needs of practitioners who are working directly with children accessing early year’s settings or child-minders.

 

The training is bespoke to this sector of the children’s workforce and can be provided as a full day or as a shorter refresher for staff requiring an update.

 



Package 7

Safeguarding for Foster Carers

The Raising Awareness of Safeguarding Children course can be adapted specifically to address the needs of foster carers.

Course outcomes are the same as for the basic course, but     

case studies and materials are bespoke for looked after children       

and those who provide their care.

 

This can be a full day course, or can be provided as a

shorter refresher course for carers who need their training to be updated.



Package 8

Parents guide to internet safety

The internet is an amazing tool which allows us and our children to connect with people, communicate and be creative in many different ways.  Unfortunately it is contually changing and being able to keep up with your child can seem challenging. You may feel that your child has a better understanding and technical skill than you do, but they still need your advice and protection when it comes to the online world.

This 2 hour course can help you with this

 

The outcomes for the training are:

- understand and recognise cyberbullying and how to prevent     it

- Know what sexting is and what the law has to say

- Understand how to set up parental controls

- Know about online grooming

- Begin to understand some apps your children are using

- Know about digital resilliance and how to promote it

 

The course is provided at a cost of £200 and a suitable training venue will need to be provided.

 


Package 9



Digital Citizenship

This is an hour and a half workshop aimed at children top of Key Stage 2 onwards.  It is designed to give children the powers to use and behave on the internet safely.

 

The outcomes for this training are:

- Understand what digital citizenship is

- Begin to understand how we keep our information safe            through password protection

- Begin to understand about online permanence

- Know about digital footprints

- Understand and know about online netiquette

 

The course is provided at a cost of £150 and a suitable training venue will need to be provided.

 


Package 10

Domestic Abuse

Safe in Your Hands training provides a one day course looking at the impact on children of living with domestic abuse. 

 

This is a five hour course  aimed at practitioners working with children of all ages.

 

It considers the damaging effects of domestic abuse and violence on families and in particular on children.

 

The course draws on learning from Serious Case Reviews, and practitioner experience.

 

The outcomes of this training are:

•    To know what domestic abuse is

•    To begin to understand some of the dynamics that underline               domestic abuse

•    To be able to support parents and children who have been                   affected by domestic abuse

•    To consider the impact on children’s well-being and  when                   affected by domestic abuse and violence

 

This course is provided at a cost of £500.  There is a maximum group size of 20 delegates and a suitable training venue will need to be provided.
